Fleet, UK March 27th 2008 — SGS (SWX: SGSN), the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company has selected Rohde & Schwarz to supply further GSM/GPRS/EDGE test equipment to enhance the capability and capacity of the SGS Wireless Europe laboratory in Cambridge, UK.
SGS Wireless has chosen the R&S TS8950G GSM Conformance test system. This test system will be used by SGS to provide conformance and pre-conformance testing services to customers wishing to achieve PTCRB (850/1900 North American Operators Certification Forum) and GCF (Global Certification Forum) certification for their GSM based product.
PTCRB certification is required for products designed for the North American market and GCF certification is needed by many of the European network operators before a product is considered for deployment on their networks, and of course the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) directives necessary for CE marking require a series of tests that can be run on the R&S TS8950G.
